Eclipse

We were willing to keep William at home for the event,

but the clouds were totally 'eclipsing' the sun.

So off to school he went.

His view box left behind.

Tim and I watched on TV.

How exciting!

Then I saw the Abe's outside, so out we went.

Sure enough, if you looked quickly...

...or attempted to see it in the box.

The clouds had thinned.

I got ONE shot of the ring of fire!  WOO HOO!!!!

Then it dimmed again.

Tokura's were out on their balcony.

The street lights came on.

So, we watched through the clouds.

Hard to burn retinas, when it was peek-a-boo.

And then it was done.

So incredibly cool!

Ramen Shop last time at locale

Jun-yi and I LOVE ramen.  This is the last day this locale was open.  Their new place is close-by.

Ramen comes with pork, and a floating quail egg.

This is my favorite style of ramen.  It is thicker than top ramen size.

It's a really small shop, but I always liked sitting at the counter.

This sign explains that they're moving.  Another sign below it explained the monetary break-down of the rent, and how it costed so much.  Besides the rent, they had to pay the broker, the owner and the owner's son BONUS money!  Kick back time!!!  But this time, the renter kicked back and left!

Jogashima Island field trip

Yes, this is the size of my palm.

It's recently dead, but this is one of their poisonous centipedes.

Chondra and her dad pose by the sign.

I think we did the .8 km.  I can read some of the kanji, but it doesn't always make sense put together...

The kids heading out.

Down the trail...

Following the signs...

The view was pretty.

Warren, William, Alex, Mason, Justin, Hector and Elijah.

This was a steep hillside.  She is explaining the root system.

Those little red dots are the other class.  They walked along the beach, which we did on the return trip.  Thank heavens.  NOT another hill!

I just think this area is so beautiful.

William.

Jaxon.

Dead baby turtle.

The rock is layered at an angle, which gives groovy places for tidewater pool animals.

Hermit crab.

All the boys had to have one.

This is looking through the rock.

The kids wanted to sit in the tunnel portion.

The rest of us ate in the open.  Warren is taking rocks out of his shoe.

One of the 'caves.'  Mrs. Parker's class had a ball in it.

Class photo.

I had to laugh at all the shoe 'cleaning' of sand.

Scout Cross-over

Thought I'd take the tollway and save time.  Ha!  This was stop and go... and we're only a few kilometers from where the tollway begins on the way to Tokyo.  Groan.
While stopped in traffic in Zushi, we saw this amazing bike painted like an alien warrior.

They started the fire out at Ikego's camping area.

I loved the flames.

William all decked out in his NEW handkerchief, which is the blue for bear.  He had had yellow, which was the wolf.  He barely got everything done in time by the end of the year, since we joined scouts in February.
