I wanted to see a Roller Derby, as did Ryota, my English student.
The jammer is the person who can score. This man is skating with her and pointing at the lead jammer, while counting laps.
The jammer has a star on their helmet and must get through all the blockers in order to get around to score.
She's trying to get through. Her team is blocking the other, while trying to clear the way for her.
The other team is blocking her. She is setting up, getting speed...
...and trying to get through again.
I never did figure out the scoring system. But this Harajuku-dressed gal helped us keep score.
All shapes and sizes, from new beginners to experienced skaters. It was a hoot. And they really have fun. I even bought their T-shirt!
