I heard about Mother Farm in Chiba. So, we decided to do it. This is rape, or canola. The Japanese eat it as a green, sometimes with the flower bud, as well. The farm was begun in 1962 by Hisakichi, Maeda. He is known for the Tokyo Tower.
What this map didn't show me, is that it is on hills! Steep hills! Argh!
And Waku Waku-land is a bunch of rides. William went by all the farm stuff, and directly to the rides. His favorite was the bike on the rail above the ground. I only went once.
It was supposed to be sunny, but it was cloudy, a bit rainy, and windy. I bought hats. I was unprepared. William is enjoying a space heater here while I wait for food.
You can ride horses at the horse barn.
You can bungee jump. William begged. I said, "When you're 18, and pay your own insurance."
You'll see William bent down here for the 'duck parade.' Basically, they feed them in different areas, so that people can take pictures.
We then went inside the agri-dome for a show. People laughed at the goat's sign, and on the other side it said something they howled over. Ah, the joys of living in Japan (missing the jokes).
The show was supposed to be a sheep dog exhibition, but that only lasted a short while.
The sheep coming over the bridge, herded by the dog.
The back wall of the dome opened up, and you could see outside. FINALLY, the sun came out!
The photo op with the lamb was kind of fun.
This was the next agri-dome show: sheep breeds. We missed the pig races because they were at the bottom of a long hill.
Since Aunt Diane has jersey cows, we skipped the milking area as well. I did buy some milk and cheeses. All VERY good!
On a Sunday night, there was traffic. But the traffic jam gave me time to get a couple nice shots of Fuji in the sunset.
