Here's a map of the island. We are on the right part, where the most beach is, and the ferry comes in. Now, we'll start up the trail.
They have paved the pathway.
Cut into the walls are different storage rooms, etc.
Apparently, there were never any monkeys here, but the Japanese used to be afraid of them, so when they wanted to make this island an ordinance place, and lookout, they named it that.
We couldn't go in, but stayed on the walkway. Love all the moss!

I thought it so peaceful and pretty. There are different paths to take. We ended going straight, to the tunnel, versus up the stairs.
People have carved names and such into the rocks.

You can see the round spot one of the many guns that were on the island was situated on. Think BIG guns!
On the backside of the island, you can go down to the beach. There are 111 steps back up... :)

By this time, Wm decided he needed to be in a group with some boys!
And then they played on the sand for the rest of the afternoon!
The tide was coming in, and Wm is working on fortifying the fort.
The girls built their fort further from the beach line. There's a tunnel that goes through!
