SSN -- Again---

William is coming out of the SSN (Sullivan's (School) Student's Network) studio. He has just finished his part of the morning news for Black History Month.
When it was his turn, he got to tell about Bernard Harris, the first African-American to walk in space.

The one thing I'd say about this year, is that William has finally realized that African Americans have ancestors who were slaves. I don't think he's ever thought of his friends as having different backgrounds. He knew there were brown skinned folks, and light orange skinned folks (I thought it was funny he described himself as being light orange, probably from mixing paint to color himself), but without this knowledge of history. I just hope he continues to realize that past misconceptions and mistakes shouldn't 'color' the future. One thing being in Japan has done for us, is to have William exposed to many races, and mixes of races. The military is very heterogenous. He has friends he loves playing with, with smart and amazing parents, who have different skin colors and cultural backgrounds. Cool.
