Track Camp

I found a track camp for William to attend once we came home.  It was called the Thunderbird Camp, and it was in Poulsbo.
This game was called Jurassic Park, and you had to stay away from the raptors (the young camp counselors).  You had to sit down once you were out.  William always did fairly well.  He'd just keep running.
William was representing with his Oregon shirt.
They didn't run as much as I thought they would.
They are doing a Swedish Mile here.  It's where you jog together, and the last kid runs to the front, and then slows down, and the next last kid runs to the front.
That isn't a finish line, it's the grass matt to cross over the track in street shoes to the field.
This is the end of that Swedish mile.  William is flying there!  :)
They would only do one lap during the Swedish Mile.
And by the end, even though they stagger started, the older groups would catch up with the younger groups, and they'd cross together.
There were some individual runs.  This one was more cross-country type.  It funnels you down to a winner.
There were dashes.
They learned different start stances.
Go!
Why he is looking to the side, and not front, I don't know.
On the last day, they had a track meet.  Tim came to watch it.  Notice William's number he had all week.  We joked about it.
I was cold.  I huddled up in the stands.
Down on the field it was warm.  The astro turf gave off heat!
William starts the obstacle course.
Zig, zag...
...jump!
This was the coach.  Thankfully, he is willing to do such a fun camp for kids who love to run.
Kids like William.
Who don't want to hear any bad news (he's behind Holdenn here).
Throwing the javelin.
Amazed that I caught the javelin in the air (shows how slow it was going).  :)
The broad jump.

Ready, set...
go and run!
Looking for the camera...
He'll have to learn to run past the line, not stop at it. :)
Happy boy!
Getting his participation award, which was only secondary to getting the stuffed puppy for being a good sport a few days earlier.  :)
