Mexican Independence Day 9/30/10

Okay, so the actual Independence anniversary is the 16th of September. However, the A/C in the theatre was out, so there was no dancing to be had on that day. We were experiencing the hottest summer on record in Japan, and it didn't stop after school started. So, finally, the last day of September, the 200th anniversary was celebrated by some of the classes.

Spanish is the language they teach the kids here. Host nation does some things in Japanese, but isn't teaching as much as trying to give some cultural background.
This is William's teacher, Ms. Bailey. She's holding a friend's new baby.
The dances begin, and the kids are so cute! My camera just won't show a non-blurry picture. But, you get a better feel for it when you see it full-screen color.
William's class doesn't have this colorful of costume. Darn!
Tim's smiling face. I wanted to be front row to get a good shot at the stage. Jun-yi is in black to the right. Her son Ethan, also a friend of William's, was also performing.
Sra. Batista is helping the Sullivan's school mascot to the center of the stage. Sra. Batista is so energetic and enthusiastic about Spanish. William LOVES taking Spanish here!
The dolfin meets its cousin from south of the border. Very cute.
